Kelowna college studentѻýs support for mom becomes family affair

Ben Wianckoѻýs family flew in from Edmonton to run together at the CIBC Run for the Cure

Hundreds of people gathered at Kelownaѻýs City Park on Oct. 1 for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Local college student Ben Wiancko signed up to run for his mom, Tracee Pratt who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021, and upon hearing the news Pratt gathered up her family from Edmonton and flew in to be part of the race.

Together the family, Team Tumerator, raised over $12,800 and was the top fundraising team of the event.

Pratt is proud of her son for stepping up and signing up, sheѻýs proud of her husband John who was the top individual fundraiser of the Kelowna event and is fighting cancer himself, and sheѻýs proud of everyone who showed up to raise funds for cancer research.

ѻýThe journey is just filled with so many silver linings when you go through it,ѻý Pratt said. ѻýItѻýs so emotional and it just fills your heart and soul with the energy you need to keep fighting.ѻý

Pratt said this is her first year participating in the run, but it wonѻýt be the last.
