The Penticton Santa Parade float that stole everyoneѻýs heart and was the grand prize winner goes to the ѻýWhovilleѻý float, created by the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce and partnering businesses.
ѻýWe were blown away by the creativity and energy that went into decorating the floats, as well as the participation by each of the businesses and organizations involved,ѻý said Jeff Plant, the cityѻýs sport and event supervisor. ѻýCommunity spirit was running high during the Magic on Main Street event and we look forward to seeing what surprises next yearѻýs event will hold.ѻý
This yearѻýs parade included 68 float entries and attracted thousands of spectators who lined Main Street and filled Gyro Park for the official light-up.
Honourable mentions for the best entry went to the City of Pentictonѻýs Grinch Linesmen and Specsavers.
The prize funds are collected from the total parade registration revenues and are donated to the winning floatѻýs charity of choice. The chamber and its partners are donating the $1,300 prize money to Penticton Safety Village.
The ѻýWhovilleѻý float was created in partnership and collaboration with many local businesses, including Badgirl Branding, who is part of the first annual ѻýHoliday Whobilationѻý at the Penticton Safety Village on Dec. 9, 10 and 16, 17 (more details at ).
Festive lights ѻý including the new 170-foot light tunnel at Gyro Park ѻý will be turned on nightly until late January, running from dusk until midnight.
