Deposits and withdrawals were encouraged during an event in support of a local animal rescue at Salmon Arm's uptown SASCU branch.
On the patio area between the credit union and the Askew's Foods on Saturday, Aug. 9, were a couple of pop-up canopy tents, several pens, a canine kissing booth and a plethora of happy pups receiving plenty of attention.
Organized by SASCU community lead Erin McGuire, and hosted by SASCU, the event was held in support of Riverhouse Rescue, a Shuswap volunteer-run, foster-based rescue launched last year by Jude Prevost and Melissa Hammer.
SASCU's crew ran a barbecue while Riverhouse Rescue offered prizes, information and opportunities to pet several of the dogs in its care.
From the event, in addition to funds raised by the barbecue, the shelter also saw two adoptions, with two more in the works.
