Tulameen & District Fire Department participates in provincial training

Ten firefighters from the department attended the event

Firefighters from around the province put their skills to the test during the first weekend in May.

The 2025 BC Volunteer Firefighter Spring Training Seminar took place in Oliver from May 2 to 4. More than 400 firefighters and staff from 74 departments across B.C., including ten firefighters from the Tulameen & District Fire Department, (TDFD) attended the event which was comprised of 25 seminars.

Firefighters were split up into groups and each attended seven of the 25 seminars so they could learn as much as possible.

The seminars included: live fire, ventilation, auto extrication, austere ropes, mass casualty incident, structure protection units, sprinkler protection, emergency scene management, vehicle fires, electric vehicles, first responder defence, electrical, helicopter operations, large animal rescue, aviation incidents, large water and much more.

"We'd like to sincerely thank the Oliver Fire Department, all the trainers, volunteers, caterers and anybody else involved in hosting such a large-scale event," TDFD stated. "It's no simple task to put on an event of this calibre and we very much appreciate the opportunity to learn and practice our firefighting skills with the best."
