Construction has started on a new hotel and parkade at Kelowna International Airport (YLW).
The Sutton Place Hotel Kelowna represents a private investment of $100 million at the airport. The luxury Canadian brand hotel chain is owned and operated by BC-based Northland Properties.
This hotel will offer guests and locals access to amenities such as business conference facilities, an indoor leisure and fitness centre, full-service valet, and concierge services. It will feature an on-site full-service restaurant, along with a viewing lounge that provides views of the surrounding area.
ѻýThe new five-star Sutton Place Hotel and 1,000-stall parkade represent a major milestone in the continued growth of YLW,ѻý Mayor Tom Dyas said in a statement. ѻýThis investment by Northland Properties, alongside the expansion of the new terminal building, is a clear sign that more people are choosing to visit Kelowna, exploring our world-class wineries, beaches, and parks, while supporting local businesses and fuelling our regional economy.ѻý
The parkade is also being built with a private investment of $55 million.
"This groundbreaking marks an important step in our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our passengers," Sam Samaddar, CEO of YLW, said in a statement. "Once complete, the Sutton Place Hotel and parkade at YLW will provide Okanagan residents and visitors alike with improved choice, convenience, and comfort when travelling through YLW."
President and CEO of Tourism Kelowna, Lisanne Ballantyne, said her organization is excited to welcome Sutton to the area.
ѻýAs our community and region continue to grow, so does our airport and the many on-site and nearby services and accommodations. These new luxury accommodations and conference spaces will provide tremendous comfort and convenience for travellers and will be a spectacular starting point to explore Kelowna and the area year-round.ѻý
Northland Properties CEO Tom Gaglardi said the project underscores a commitment to creating premium experiences for travellers.
ѻýAs a third-generation BC family with roots in the interior, weѻýre proud to be investing in the future of Kelowna and the region with the development of a new Sutton Place Hotel and a 1,000-stall parkade at YLW.ѻý
The parkade is expected to be completed in 2027, and the Sutton Place Hotel Kelowna in 2028.
