West Kelowna residents found out in Dec. that the familiar white, green, and blue house at the corner of Bering Road and Old Okanagan Highway won乌鸦传媒檛 be there much longer.
The Gables, as it乌鸦传媒檚 known, is being demolished.
Before that happens, Stephen Graham invited the public in one last time, to have a look around, on Dec. 16-17.
His family bought the farmhouse, which is more than 100 years old, in 1973.
乌鸦传媒淏etween my father and the three of us boys, we did most of the construction on the house,乌鸦传媒 Graham said.
The Gables is a bit of a mosaic of the Central Okanagan.
乌鸦传媒淎 lot of materials for the house were actually reclaimed from other structures in the Central Okanagan that we dismantled and brought those materials here to incorporate into this house,乌鸦传媒 Graham added.
There are plans for the property, to build townhomes that pay homage to the legacy of his father and the home as a gathering place.
However, recent changes to the City of West Kelowna zoning bylaws is posing a challenge.
Graham said the new zoning proposed for the area is urban-commercial space.
He will go before council on Jan. 9 and is asking members of the community to write letters to the city in support of building the townhomes.
