Peachland council has approved a pilot project allowing dogs-on-leash in three neighbourhood parks.

Canines will be allowed in Knoblauch, Morrison and Chevalier parks, except in playground areas.

The project was prompted by discussions with members of the public as these parks are typically not as busy as community parks and would provide more areas for dog owners to exercise their dogs.

The districtѻýs bylaw allows on-leash dogs in Lambly Park and off-leash in Sanderson, Pincushion and MacKinnon Parks as well as the Doggie Beach.

Councillor Terry Condon was skeptical of the project during a February meeting when the ideas was first discussed.

ѻýBased on the behaviours of many dog owners in this town I do not have a great deal of confidence that the parks will be kept clean,ѻý he said at the time.

Signage will be installed indicating the rules for on-leash dogs in Knoblauch, Morrison and Chevalier parks.
