A blocked escape route put the brakes on a Salmon Arm man caught behind the wheel despite having a driving prohibition.

At 4 p.m. on June 5, Salmon Arm RCMP conducted a traffic stop on 9th Avenue NE for a black Ford Explorer after queries showed the registered owner was prohibited from driving.

"The vehicle appeared to be attempting to evade police after accelerating quickly and turning into a local restaurant, where it got stuck in between other vehicles in the parking lot," Const. Andrew Hodges said in a media release.

The driver, confirmed to be the registered owner and prohibited from driving, was served a future court date to speak to the allegations, and his truck was impounded.
