Dirty Mutter 2024

Thanks to the rainy spring weather, dogs across the Okanagan have been able to properly train for the sixth annual Dirty Mutter race by rolling in the mud, but only one filthy pooch will be crowned Kelowna's Muddiest Dog on June 22.

The Dirty Mutter obstacle course event is a fundraiser for the a non-profit animal sanctuary that cares for all sorts of critters who need a loving home.

The obstacle course event is inspired by 'Tough Mudder' and Spartan style races and features slippery mud sections, obstacles and hills.

However, a key difference between Tough Mudder and the Rescue Ranch event is that in addition to obstacles and mud, the Dirty Mutter will also feature a lot of fur and wagging tails.

The race is welcome to people and pups of all ability levels, with a focus on having fun in the mud. Even those without a dog are welcome to join and can borrow a pooch or run solo.

The Rescue Ranch is home to pigs, llamas, goats, ducks, chickens and horses, many of which have special needs. All proceeds from the event will directly support the Rescue Ranch in covering the rising costs of food, shelter and veterinary care for the animals.

The owner of the ranch, Rhonda Laturnus, has a passion for wellness and animals and runs her gym Results 4 Life Fitness at her acreage in Black Mountain. Often, bleating and oinks can be heard from the gym, which is located only a short distance away from the barn and pasture that houses the rescued animals.

The Dirty Mutter event will be held at the Ranch on a course that Laturnus designed to be muddy, silly and fun.

In addition to the award for muddiest dog, there will also be awards for best costume, most inspirational and cleanest human and pooch.

For everyoneÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s safety, participants will take to the course on a staggered start to keep the chaos fun and friendly.

Laturnus is also looking for individuals, media and businesses to sponsor the Dirty Mutter to ensure the event is a success.
