Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola Conservative MP Dan Albas says he will be running in the next federal election.

He made the announcement on his Facebook account.

ѻýOver the past month, Iѻýve received many well-meaning, sincere expressions of goodwill regarding my supposed retirement from provincial politics,ѻý Albas wrote. ѻýHowever, thereѻýs a small detail - itѻýs actually my long-time friend and colleague MLA Dan Ashton who announced his retirement after the next British Columbia election, set for this fall.ѻý

Albas thanked Ashton for his years of service, first as a Penticton councillor and mayor, and then as an MLA with the BC Liberal Party, now the BC United Party.

Albas served under Ashton as a city councillor and later shared an office with him in Summerland when he became an MP.

ѻýItѻýs amusing that weѻýve often been mistaken for each other due to sharing the same first name, initials, and office,ѻý he said.

Albas also thanked West Kelowna MLA Ben Stewart, who is retiring from provincial politics this fall.

ѻýIѻým grateful that voters have supported individuals like MLA Ashton and MLA Stewart, who have consistently advocated for efficient, common-sense approaches to our work, with these office co-locations being one tangible example.ѻý

The next federal election is scheduled for October 2025.
