The UBC Thunderbirds won their first Canada West men乌鸦传媒檚 hockey championship in 53 years, partially with help from six former Kelowna Rockets.
In the gold medal game, they beat the University of Calgary 5-3 and now advance to the University Cup National Championship.
The team consists of former Rockets Liam Kindree, Jake Kryski, Jake Lee, Conner McDonald, Jonathan Smart and Cole Schwebius. Kryski scored in the gold medal game while Lee and Kindree each collected an assist.
Schwebius, a Kelowna native, made 22 saves in the win.

Former Rockets Adam Kydd and Jake Poole were on the other side of the ice in the game, earning silver with Calgary.
