Some of Kelowna's youth are in the final weeks of training for the Kelowna Kids Triathlon.
On July 27, kids aged three to 15 will compete on land, water, and wheels in a friendly race to celebrate fitness and build confidence.
ѻýThe Kids Tri is all about celebrating physical activity and just having fun swimming, biking and running,ѻý said race director Cory Krist. ѻýWe want every child to feel like a champion ѻý and every parent to leave with a proud smile.ѻý
Split into groups by birth year, kids will swim a distance up to 300 metres, cycle up to eight kilometres, and run up to two kilometres.
All athletes are required to wear a helmet while cycling and are encouraged to bring a water bottle, hat, and towel. Headphones and other devices that can cause distractions are not permitted.
Every child that completes the race will receive a medal.
The triathlon is taking place at Kelowna's Mission Recreation Park. A portion of Lequime Road will be closed to traffic during the event.
