The Okanagan College (OC) Coyotes basketball teams are getting set to host the PACWEST provincial basketball championships this weekend.

Both the Coyotes womenѻýs and menѻýs teams are ranked sixth going into the tournament.

Starting on Thursday, Feb. 29 at Kelowna Christian School, the three-day championship will feature four games a day before concluding with the medal games on Saturday. The womenѻýs bracket will begin each day at 12:30 p.m. and conclude each night with the menѻýs bracket at 8:00 p.m.

The Coyotes womenѻýs team will tip the tournament off at 12:30 p.m. against Abbotsfordѻýs CBC Bearcats while the men will meet the number three-ranked Langara College Falcons on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

ѻýThis is a wonderful opportunity for our college,ѻý OC athletics, recreation, and student life coordinator Jenn Naiman. ѻýOur goal at OC is to support students and the communities where we operate. We are excited for this opportunity to welcome student-athletes from around B.C. to our region for the first time and look forward to a great PACWEST Championship.ѻý

On both the menѻýs and the womenѻýs sides, the two teams in the finals automatically clinch berths to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Associationѻýs (CCAA) National Championship, which takes place in two weeks time.

This is the first time OC is hosting the basketball provincials.
