Alleged drunk driver crashes on Lumby highway

Truck crosses centre-line crashing into oncoming traffic before hitting the ditch

A driver who crossed the centre line and collided with oncoming traffic has been taken off the road, after hitting the ditch.

The crash took place on Highway 6 west of Lumby Wednesday, June 11 around 5:30 p.m.

Heading towards Vernon, the westbound vehicle crashed with an eastbound vehicle before going into the ditch.

"Police made a roadside breath demand of the driver of the westbound vehicle who was subsequently issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound," said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was taken to hospital by BC Ambulance Service for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was uninjured and grateful to have walked away from what could have been a much worse outcome.
