It's almost time for Vernonites to get their pride on.
The Vernon Pride Society has announced its annual Pride Week will take place in June this year. It had been held in August in past years, and moving it to June aligns the celebration with the internationally recognized Pride Month.
From June 2-8, people can enjoy a week of inclusive events and education.
Monday, June 2, will open Vernon Pride Week with a flag-raising at City Hall. The Pride March will take place Sunday, June 8 at Civic Memorial Park to close out the festivities.
Vernon Pride's newly appointed president Dawn Tucker said they are "looking forward to welcoming visitors across the valley and from afar to enjoy events and community as we've changed Vernon Pride Week to within International Pride Month, aligning with our neighbouring cities this year. We乌鸦传媒檝e listened to our community乌鸦传媒檚 feedback and it's hoped that everyone will come and enjoy all we have planned.乌鸦传媒�
Events will include "queer rock climbing," a Pride Pups dog park meet-up, comedy and cabaret shows, a pride picnic, Two-spirit, trans and non-binary storytelling, Pride at the Park and much more.

Vernon Pride thanks the local business community for stepping up and supporting Pride Month, and Tourism Vernon for being the lead sponsor for 2025. Cabana Kitchen + Bar and BRIXX Brewhouse are also recognized for sponsoring a pivotal event of this year's Pride Week.
In switching to a June date, Vernon Pride will also be collaborating with other pride societies in Kelowna and Kamloops to offer a month of pride celebration in the Thompson-Okanagan.
