Construction is well underway on Vernon's Active Living Centre, and while work on the $135 million rec centre project is not set to wrap up until 2026, the city is already looking for the tenants that will fill the facility.
The city issued two requests for expressions of interest Monday, June 2. The requests seek companies interested in leasing tenant spaces in the Active Living Centre.
The requests offer a glimpse into what the facility could look like on the inside once it opens.
One of the requests is for food and beverage companies to apply to become tenants. The other is for companies that offer sports medicine and health and wellness services.
"The (Active Living) Centre represents a unique and dynamic hub within the community, offering modern recreational facilities and fostering a vibrant atmosphere for residents of all ages," reads the documents which aim to gauge interest in tenancy opportunities.
The ALC presents an opportunity to lease commercial spaces suitable for food, beverage, sports medicine and health and wellness services, according to the documents.
"By becoming a tenant, businesses will gain exposure to a diverse clientele, benefit from the cross-traffic created by the Centre's various activities and play a vital role in enhancing the community's access to active living resources and services," the documents state.
The documents contain design renderings and floor plans of the future tenant spaces inside the Active Living Centre. The floor plans show a large tenant space on the northwest corner of the facility, next to a public street and a community living space. Across the public street from the tenant space is a space for a cafe with a storage room that will contain a stand-up fridge and freezer and stainless steel shelves, among other amenities.
Other spaces shown in the floor plans include a large multi-purpose space next to the tenant space, a child-minding space, a leisure viewing area and various office spaces all to the north of the gymnasiums, with swimming pools situated on the east side of the facility.
Submissions to the requests for expressions of interest can be made until July 15 on .
