Verbal abuse against an employee earned an intoxicated man a night in Chase police cells.

At about 5:20 p.m. on May 12, the RCMP were called to an establishment in Sorrento after receiving reports of a disturbance. Responding officers were told that a man had been yelling and screaming at an employee, causing her to fear for her safety.

Though the man was gone when police arrived, he returned to speak with them where he was advised that, due to his behaviour, he was no longer welcome on the property and would be arrested if he returned.

"Officers escorted the man back to his nearby tent," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "He returned to the property almost immediately and was arrested for causing a disturbance."

The man was kept in cells overnight while he sobered up.
