A Merritt hotel has suffered "extensive damage" after a fire early Friday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m., Merritt RCMP and fire-rescue crews responded to calls of blaze at the Comfort Inn & Suites on Crawford Avenue.

While all hotel occupants and staff got out safely and no injuries were reported, the portion of the structure was fully engulfed, causing a large amount of damage.
