RCMP are investigating a shooting that took place early Thursday, May 15.

BC Emergency Health Services requested assistance from police after they received a call that someone had been shot around 1 a.m.

Officers responded to a residence on Stickle Road north of Vernon where they found one person who had suffered a gunshot wound.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.

"Based on the findings of the ongoing investigation, this appears to be a targeted event," said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officer.

Police also responded to an earlier reported shooting in The Rise area late May 14.

"No determination has yet been made as to whether the incidents are linked and both remain under investigation."
