Thousands attend Summerland Action Festival

Sports events and musical entertainment were featured at long-standing Summerland festival

Thousands of people attended free concerts, participated in ball games, took part in the GiantÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s Head Run and enjoyed other activities at the Summerland Action Festival over June 6 to 8.

The festival, a Summerland tradition since 1982, has always been a big draw for the community and 2025 continued that tradition.

The slow-pitch tournament brought teams from the South Okanagan and beyond for a popular weekend event. More than 60 teams competed on playing fields around the community.

The GiantÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s Head Run, with a 5-7 kilometre and a 10-kilometre race option, attracted 560 participants, running in 32 race categories.

During the weekend, musicians and other entertainers took to the stage in Memorial Park, performing in a variety of genres and in the style of many popular artists.

Bands included Bad Medicine, a Bon Jovi tribute band; Boy Named Sue, a Johnny Cash tribute act; PWR_UP, an AC/DC tribute band and a Shania Twain tribute act. Other bands and entertainers included Moving Lines retro rock hits, Instario classic rock and pop hits, Cat Wells Blues Band, Bay Island All Stars and the Jack and Jill Band performing at the Kinsmen Concert and Dance Party on Saturday evening.

A fireworks display was also held on the Saturday evening.
