A woman in her 30ѻýs remains in hospital after colliding with a dump truck while riding her bike in Kelowna.

The incident happened about 3 p.m. June 4, when RCMP say a dump truck turning onto Richter Street from the eastbound lane of Harvey Ave hit a cyclist who was also eastbound on Harvey Ave.

The cyclist sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

The driver of the dump truck remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Five hours after the collision RCMP still remained on scene. Richter Street was blocked off to traffic headed south off of Harvey Avenue.

Const. James Ward with the Central Okanagan Traffic Services was on scene following the incident.

ѻýRight now, weѻýre trying to figure out what happened. The cyclist sustained serious leg injuries. We donѻýt know if itѻýs hips or pelvis, but itѻýs serious,ѻý he said.

At the time Ward said they arenѻýt sure if the cyclistѻýs injuries are life-threatening.

ѻýFrom what Iѻýve been told, it was a hip-pelvis injuryѻý and something got cut open too. Generally, those are pretty serious and can be life-threatening just because of the blood vessels down there.ѻý

ѻýWe have some members going to the hospital to monitor the victim and find out what their status is.ѻý

If you witnessed the incident, you are asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
