The annual Shriners Show and Shine brought over 80 cars to Okanagan Falls乌鸦传媒� Kenyon Park on Saturday.
乌鸦传媒淭his is the sixth year we乌鸦传媒檝e held this show, and the fourth we乌鸦传媒檝e done it for the Penticton Shrine Club, to help them with their children乌鸦传媒檚 hospital program,乌鸦传媒� said organizer Geoff Walter-Hughes. 乌鸦传媒淚t乌鸦传媒檚 really turned out well. We have about 84 cars today. To get this many out when the weather乌鸦传媒檚 not perfect, it乌鸦传媒檚 pretty decent and I乌鸦传媒檓 grateful to have them show up. 乌鸦传媒�
The vehicles at the show came in all shapes and sizes, from a stock Honda motorbike to a customized Mack truck. Despite the turnout, Walter-Hughes hopes that a slight change in schedule might help improve it for the next year.
乌鸦传媒淭his about what we had last year because we had the fires and smoke last year,乌鸦传媒� said Walter-Hughes. 乌鸦传媒淣ext year I乌鸦传媒檇 like to try and go earlier in the summer. Hopefully, before we get a lot of fires.乌鸦传媒�
There were a number of prizes handed out at the end of the show. The Shriners乌鸦传媒� Choice went to Don Sussey of Penticton, for his 1979 GMC 4x4. The People乌鸦传媒檚 Choice Award went to Doug Speers of Keremeos for his heavily customized 1937 Ford Slantback.
乌鸦传媒淚t乌鸦传媒檚 great getting this award,乌鸦传媒� said Speers. 乌鸦传媒淭his is the second one in three weeks, the other one was from Keremeos.乌鸦传媒�
Shawn Rouw of Okanagan Falls took home the prize for Best Motorcycle with his. For Rouw, the prize was secondary to the event itself.
乌鸦传媒淚t乌鸦传媒檚 really not about winning and trophies or anything,乌鸦传媒� said Rouw, who came to the show with his daughter. 乌鸦传媒淲e were here last year and again this year, to try and support the local Shriners for the kids, it乌鸦传媒檚 a great cause.乌鸦传媒�
All of the proceeds from this year乌鸦传媒檚 Show and Shine are going to be used to support their hospital program. The entrants were entered into a contest for door prizes, and there were a number handed out throughout the afternoon.
