Armstrong's Pleasant Valley Secondary School Hawks are flying into Big Sky.

The school's senior boys golf team captured the Okanagan Valley High School AA Championship at the Penticton Golf and Country Club Monday, May 12. The foursome of Cruz Anderson, Lynden Cox, DJ Crowe, and Kohen Pounder defeated the host Princess Margaret Mustangs of Penticton by one shot in the total score competition.

Both schools advance to the B.C. AA championships June 2-4 at the Big Sky Golf Club in Pemberton.

PVSS' quartet finished with a total of 327, led by Crowe's individual gross-winning two-over-par 72. Cox fired a 79, Anderson shot an 87, and Pounder came in with an 89.

The Hawks were the only team in the field of six to compete with just four players. Every other team had five players, and those schools' highest score did not count toward the team total.

Crowe was a three-shot winner over Alistair Martin of Summerland Secondary in the individual scoring, which saw only six golfers break 80, including Cox and Jake Blankley of Coldstream's Kalamalka Lakers. They tied for fifth with their matching 79s.

Blankley was low score for the Lakers, who finished fourth in the team event with a 338 total. Marty Pare fired an 83 for Kal, Drew Christensen and Carter Gislason both shot 88, while Tarran Tepper came in with 89.

Teams from Kamloops and Merritt also took part in the Okanagan finals.

Two provincial high school championships will be contested in the Okanagan-Shuswap.

The B.C. A finals will be June 2-4 at Gallagher's Canyon Golf and Country Club in Kelowna, with the Immaculata Mustangs of Kelowna as the host school.

The AAA provincials will be June 2-4 at Shuswap National Golf Course in Salmon Arm, with Lake Country's George Elliot Coyotes as the host team.
