Penticton Vees to clash with Kelowna Rockets in WHL home opener

The Vees' home opener will come after a pair of road contests against Victoria and Vancouver

The first edition of what's expected to be a premier Western Hockey League (WHL) rivalry is coming to Penticton this fall.

On Friday, Sept. 26, the Penticton Vees will play their first WHL home game as they battle the Kelowna Rockets ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½” hosts of the 2026 Memorial Cup ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½” at the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC). Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

Additional details regarding the Vees' home opener will be announced in the coming weeks, the club said.

It will mark Penticton's third game of the 2025-26 regular season, with the club first set to visit the Victoria Royals and Vancouver Giants in succession on Sept. 19 and 20.

The full schedule for the upcoming WHL season will be released the week of June 23.

Penticton will play all its home games inside the 5,000-seat SOEC as part of the WHL's Western Conference.
