Professional and amateur scooter riders will soon converge for a competition in Penticton, closing the city's largest skate park for parts of this weekend.
Penticton Youth Park is hosting the event on Saturday, Aug. 16.
Open to pros and amateurs on scooters, the competition will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is available on-site on the day, according to the city.
Members of the public are welcome to attend. However, only those registered to compete will be allowed to use the skate park during the event, city officials added in a press release.
Penticton Youth Park ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½” considered one of the largest skate facilities in B.C. ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½” opened in the mid-2000s and features a 30,000-square-foot site with a variety of obstacles, terrain, and spectator seating.
In October 2024, the park was powered up with newly-installed stadium lights for the first time after regularly hosting skateboarders, scooter, and BMX riders for close to 20 years.
