Keeping pets and people together in homes is what the Okanagan Humane Society is all about.

This fall, the non-profit charity is partnering with Bellamy Homes to help raise funds for animals in need up and down the Okanagan.

The inaugural Tails of Hope will take place Oct. 25 at Manteo Waterfront Resort, with a champagne reception, an interactive dining experience, a live painting by artist Jordan Perkins and, of course, alumni pets who have found their forever homes.

There will be a live and silent auction, where every bid and/or donation will go towards changing an animalѻýs life.

In 2024, OHS rescued and cared for over 4,150 animals through emergency rescue, pet assistance, and adoption programs. And, 2025 is already breaking recordsѻýwith more than 2,000 animals helped so far.

This year, through the Rescue and Pet Assistance programs, more than 2,000 animals have been helped, which is 100 more animals than at this time last year.

The charity operates at a low-cost model with a volunteer-based foster program that can care for up to 300 animals at a time. The average cost of care for one animal is $350.

ѻýAll of our work is carried out by volunteersѻýwhether it's rescuing animals from cat colonies, tracking down stray dogs, or providing foster homes,ѻý said  Romany Runnalls, president of the OHS board of directors.

The Humane Society does not receive funding from municipal governments and depends entirely on community support to continue its essential work.
