A traditional South Asian sports game is coming to town this weekend.
Kabaddi, a contact sport, comes to Vernon for the first time ever this Sunday, Aug. 17, at the DND grounds from 12 to 4 p.m.
The free event is "going to be an unforgettable celebration of culture, sport, and community spirit," according to event organizers.
"Kabaddi isnÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™t just a game itÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s a tradition that dates back thousands of years, rooted in teamwork, strategy, and raw athleticism. Originating in South Asia, this dynamic sport has grown into a global phenomenon, and now itÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s making its mark in our own backyard."
The game is fun for all ages, and it is hoped to engage more youth in sport.
"Bring your family, your friends, and your loudest cheers letÎÚÑ»´«Ã½™s make this a day to remember and show the power of sport to bring people together," organizers said.
