The 15th Annual Wilson M. Beck Charity Golf Tournament drove in a record-breaking $183,567 for the YMCA of Southern Interior on July 21.
Proceeds from the tournament, held at the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, will stay local and support the YMCAѻýs financial assistance program.
These funds will help eliminate financial obstacles for low-income children and at-risk youth, providing them with access to resources, connections, and a safe, inclusive community fostering healthy and lifelong development.
ѻýThis event directly contributes to addressing critical challenges like social isolation, mental health, and access to healthy living, creating real, lasting change for thousands of local children, youth, and families,ѻý said Tammie Watson, VP of Philanthropy at the YMCA.
WMB Managing Partner Steven Pavelich explained that the YMCAѻýs mission is deeply meaningful.
ѻýKnowing that each dollar raised stays right here in our community and helps local families thrive is what makes this partnership so special,ѻý he added.
The tournament saw 140 golfers turn out with support from volunteers and country club staff. The money raised was achieved through a combination of sponsorships, team registrations, prize donations, and both live and online auctions.
"This tournament is a true team effort, from our sponsors and players to every donor who contributed,ѻý said Golf Committee Chair Derek Nyrose. ѻýTheir collective support allows us to continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of local children and families in need."
