Smiling children and parents piled into the Lake Country Community hall for another year of winter fun.

The second annual Indoor Childrenѻýs Festival had more than 40 vendors providing entertainment, bouncy castles, face painting, drumming games and more, Feb. 25.

One parent also attended last yearѻýs festival.

Stella Hundert, a mother of two, said ѻýthis year it seems bigger and more organized,ѻý

Her son enjoyed himself in the many bouncy obstacle courses while her daughter was on an adventure to find a henna tattoo.

ѻýThe kids have fun, thereѻýs nothing else to do in the middle of February,ѻý she said, adding her and her children were enjoying themselves.

ѻýFamilies from Lake Country and neighbouring Kelowna and Vernon had a great time at the event last year and weѻýve expanded the event for 2017,ѻý said cultural development coordinator Ryan Donn.

The whole community got involved with the festival as the Lake Country firefighters provided a combat challenge, the Lake Country Museum did a historical photo booth and there was a teen vocal competition at the Creekside Theatre for older youths.

Fire inspector Eric Degelder set up the combat challenge.

ѻýItѻýs always nice to see the little ones carrying the hose and putting the jackets on,ѻý he said.

Last year because the weather was warm, the combat challenge had a huge lineup. This year was a little more organized, said Degelder.

More than 10 firefighters volunteered at the course held a tour of the fire truck.

ѻýItѻýs also great for the kids to see our faces, Iѻýve been pretty close to visiting everyoneѻýs house in Lake Country. When a kid recognizes our faces they can say ѻýhey itѻýs that guy from the childrenѻýs festival.ѻýѻý
