Kelownaѻýs new axe-throwing company, Axe Monkeys will allow teenagers to get out their angst.
A mobile axe-throwing unit will allow teens who attend Kelownaѻýs first TeenFest to safely throw axes, said manger of Axe Monkey, Andrew Donn.
Donn said the mobile until looks a little ѻýcrazyѻý with people standing outside of the unit and will throw axes at targets inside.
Donn said he was contacted by TeenFestѻýs founder, Ali Berman and it went from there.
ѻýWeѻýre a new company, itѻýs good exposure and itѻýs a kid-friendly place,ѻý he said.
Berman would love to see 2,000 to 3,000 people come to Kelownaѻýs TeenFest.
She created TeenFest four years ago in Victoria, after seeing her teenagers learn from YouTube. She wanted to create a collaborative effect that allowed for teens to learn from mentors and get experience in the community.
ѻýItѻýs amazing to see,ѻý she said.
The Kelowna TeenFest will feature around 40 Kelowna vendors at the Kelowna Curling Club, today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as a talent contest judged by actor Madison Smith.
The contest is open for those ages 12 to 18.
Berman said she met Smith in Vancouver, and he wished he had an opportunity like TeenFest when he was a teenager.
