A traffic stopping family of ducks got a police escort down Highway 1 to ensure safe travels on May 8.

A family of VIPs got a special police escort Thursday morning, May 8, in Salmon Arm.

Posts to social media showed an RCMP cruiser with emergency lights on blocking a lane of traffic on Highway 1 as a mother duck and her flock of ducklings waddled down the road. The driver of a pickup truck had also stopped and put his four way flashers on to also ensure the feathered family had a safe commute.

"The biggest THANK YOU to the RCMP officer and the person in the black truck with hazards on for carefully making sure mama duck and ducklings make it down the TCH safely,ѻý Barb Mackay said on Facebook, with many others also adding their appreciation.

While Salmon Arm RCMP media relations officer Const. Andrew Hodges said he wasnѻýt working that day and there is no file on the traffic stop, he said it looked ѻýlike a quacking call.ѻý
