And on Thursday, May 22, Adam Shoalts will be sharing his insights at the Okanagan Science Centre.
The Vernon centre has partnered with the Awaken Inquiry and Adventure Okanagan (AIAO) school program to host an evening with Adam Shoalts.
Shoalts is a professional adventurer and the author of five national bestselling books.
His career has included mapping rivers, leading expeditions for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and Mountain Equipment Co-op, archaeological digs, tracking endangered species, and completing a nearly 4,000-kilometre solo journey across Canada's Arctic.
Shoalts sometimes goes months without seeing another person on his expeditions.
In 2022, he canoed and hiked all the way from southern Canada to the Arctic.

AIAO is a Montessori-style program at Clarence Fulton Secondary School which utilizes the outdoors and nature-based educational practices. The program made headlines last year when it was under threat of being cut, but and were successful in keeping it alive.
