Mount Boucherie Grade 12 student Judah Hinter loves to cook and aspires to be a chef, but for now he乌鸦传媒檚 landed an acting gig.
Hinter says it was a funny story on how he was cast as Chad in the upcoming teen drama Anthem.
乌鸦传媒淚乌鸦传媒檓 in school to become a chef, and decided I乌鸦传媒檓 going to take an easy course this semester, Foods and Nutrition. I乌鸦传媒檓 sitting there with my friends and the principal pulled me out of class,乌鸦传媒� recalled Hinter. 乌鸦传媒淚 was thinking 乌鸦传媒榳hat is it this time, what am I in trouble for?乌鸦传媒� He walked me outside and the (director and recruiting members said) you乌鸦传媒檇 be perfect for this part. I乌鸦传媒檓 like 乌鸦传媒榮ure, why not.乌鸦传媒櫸谘淮綕
Hinter looks the part for the film set in the 1990s as he usually wears a leather jacket, a Blue Jays hat and kept his shoes for the role.
乌鸦传媒淚t乌鸦传媒檚 a throwback that I would wear those, you know?乌鸦传媒� he said, noting that he plans to follow his passion of cooking, but wouldn乌鸦传媒檛 mind being in another film.
乌鸦传媒淚 think my passion is being a chef, I love cooking, I love seeing people try the food, so that乌鸦传媒檚 probably what I乌鸦传媒檓 going to pursue,乌鸦传媒� he said. 乌鸦传媒淚乌鸦传媒檝e been told I乌鸦传媒檓 OK at acting. I乌鸦传媒檝e never been on set, I乌鸦传媒檝e never had any drama classes, nothing.乌鸦传媒�
Anthem is filming in Kelowna this month, continuing until April 15 as part of an 18-day shoot. The film stars Cameron Monaghan, Peyton List and Danny Woodburn
Monaghan plays Luke Hunter, a small-town teenager who splits his time with the druggie and popular crowd. One day, Hunter has a premonition one of his friends will be hit by a vehicle and killed. The event came true on Asher Street on Friday in Rutland.
The Capital News caught up with the production crew as they filmed the death scene.
It was a busy day for the normally less-than busy road which was blocked off with a scene containing a fake ambulance, police car, and body.
乌鸦传媒淲atch out for the body,乌鸦传媒� said a crew member, as cast and crew stepped casually around it.
Production coordinator Lori Welbourne said Kelowna has been helpful to Sepia Films in the past.
乌鸦传媒淜elowna乌鸦传媒檚 actually really good with helping us with this sort of thing, with blocking off a road and you can乌鸦传媒檛 always get that in bigger cities,乌鸦传媒� she said, adding it乌鸦传媒檚 more cost effective to block off areas in a smaller city.
The Kelowna community rallied to donate old 乌鸦传媒�90s equipment for the film, as well as adding local extras to the cast. It乌鸦传媒檚 hard work being an extra, filming a mosh pit scene tired a few, but they乌鸦传媒檙e happy to be involved on their spring break.
乌鸦传媒淚乌鸦传媒檝e always wanted to live in not the futuristic decade and live back when there were less electronics so it乌鸦传媒檚 kind of cool replaying it,乌鸦传媒� said student Lola Rediski from Constable Neil Bruce Middle School.
Sepia Films has not set a release date, but will be doing a festival run prior to the movie乌鸦传媒檚 theatrical release.
