The Vernon Farmers' Market goes Mondays and Thursday 8-1 at Kal Tire Place. Saturdays 9-1 at Kal Tire parking lot, 1540 Kalamalka Lake Rd. until Sept. 27.

There's plenty to do around the region for those enjoying an extra day off.

B.C. Day Monday, Aug. 4 offers most a long weekend to soak up the sun, surf or trails (whether by foot or bike).

For those working the Monday to Friday grind, it's the perfect chance to check out the Vernon Farmers' Market, on at Kal Tire Place north parking lot until 1 p.m.

A special event is also taking place at O'Keefe Ranch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. B.C. Day at the ranch offers an opportunity for locals and tourists to check out the historic buildings, animals, kids crafts and guest speakers at 1 p.m.

Crankworx continues up at SilverStar Mountain Resort today. Group A downhill finals are from 12 to 2:30 p.m. These are the elite and U19 athletes. These pros can be seen on Dags Downhill (follow Milky Way from the Village or ride the gondola for start-line viewing near the top). Awards are presented in the village immediately after the race.

So while many shops and businesses are closed and taking a well-deserved day off, there's still lots to see and do around town.

ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½œB.C. Day gives us all a chance to celebrate living in spectacular British Columbia," Premier David Eby said in an announcement today.

ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½œWhether you spend the day camping, on the water or at the beach, or you decide to relax at home with family and friends, I hope you make the best of the day."
