An update from the BC Wildfire Service says the Drought Hill wildfire in Peachland is now under control.

The blaze, which spread to 57 hectares and forced the evacuation of 400 properties, started on July 30 after a vehicle fire spread to brush and trees along Highway 97.

As of Aug.1, 118 properties were on evacuation alert according to the .

The fire shut down sections of Highway 97 in Peachland and Highway 97C for more than six hours.
