Mountain biker rescued by air in West Kelowna

B.C. has 78 volunteer search and rescue groups

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue transported an injured mountain biker out of the bush in West Kelowna by helicopter on May 10, 2025.

A mountain biker was saved by Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) after finding himself injured in West Kelowna's Smith Creek area on Saturday, May 10. 

The biker was initially reached by visiting volunteers from Golden Search and Rescue. COSAR's e-bike team was deployed to asses the man and prepare him for transport. 

With difficult terrain, the individual was taken by helicopter out of the area and to a waiting ambulance. 

B.C. has 78 volunteer search and rescue groups that provide free rescue services.
