The District of Peachland has expressed its gratitude to all those who supported the community through the Drought Hill wildfire.
A post on the districtѻýs Facebook page singled out firefighters and emergency personnel.
ѻýFor their dedication, professionalism, and hard work in protecting lives, property, and natural areas under extremely challenging conditions.ѻý
The post also thanked volunteers who gave their time to assist by supporting emergency operations and helping neighbours and evacuees.
ѻýYour efforts made a meaningful difference and are deeply appreciated,ѻý the post reads.
Neighbouring communities, partner agencies, local businesses, emergency management teams and district staff were also thanked for their efforts throughout the wildfire response.
ѻýFinally, to the residents of Peachland ѻý thank you for your patience, cooperation, and resilience. This event was a strong reminder of the importance of community, and we are proud of how everyone came together during a difficult time,ѻý the post concluded.
The Drought Hill wildfire sparked on July 30 and forced the evacuation of 400 properties, put more than 200 others on alert, and shut down Highway 97 and sections of Highway 97C for more than six hours.
The fire, as of Aug. 4, is under control and contained to 57 hectares.
