Old man winter still isn't quite done this spring.
According to Environment Canada, wet snow is expected through Tuesday morning (May 20) on four stretches of Okanagan highways, but is estimated to ease by the afternoon. Because of this, a special weather statement is currently in affect for the:
- Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt;
- Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Kamloops;
- Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Peachland;
- Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass;
- Highway 3 from Princeton via Allison Pass.
The precipitation could be anywhere from a trace to five centimetres.
"Please be prepared to adjust your driving as weather conditions at high elevations may change quickly," stated Environment Canada. "Slow down and maintain a safe following distance. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions."
