A Black Press Media staffer who was in Paris when 10,000 rioters sacked the glamorous Champs-Elysees on Saturday said the well-known avenue has been 乌鸦传媒渢otally destroyed.乌鸦传媒�

Jane Ilott and husband Steve arrived in Paris the day before the violence that was part of the Yellow Vest movement with 17-year-old son Callum and 15-year-old daughter Emily.

乌鸦传媒淲e actually walked the Champs Elysees the day before, stopped and had coffee and croissants at a sidewalk cafe,乌鸦传媒� Ilott said.

It was her first trip to Paris.

乌鸦传媒淲e stayed in the Marais district 乌鸦传媒� out of the danger zone, but down the street from the police station,乌鸦传媒� she said.

Police sirens began sounding Saturday morning and were still sounding when the Ilotts left Sunday morning.

乌鸦传媒淲e were headed to the Arc de Triumph [sic] for our tour,乌鸦传媒� Ilott said. 乌鸦传媒淭he protest was still going on and we decided to leave the area and come back later. After our tour of the Catacombs, we headed back to the Arc de Triumph. As we came around the corner we came upon the destruction of the Champs-Elysees.乌鸦传媒�

乌鸦传媒淸With] riot police blocking every side street, we had no choice but to walk through the aftermath of the worst riot in the history of Paris.乌鸦传媒�

The metro was shut down and Ilott had to find a taxi to get back to the hotel.

乌鸦传媒淲e hurried out of the area as the riot police were starting to form up again,乌鸦传媒� she said. 乌鸦传媒淲e didn乌鸦传媒檛 feel unsafe, but didn乌鸦传媒檛 want to linger.乌鸦传媒�

The violent demonstration by the 乌鸦传媒測ellow vest乌鸦传媒� movement saw about 80 luxury stores, restaurants and banks looted and burned.

In one case, a fire in a bank spread to a residential building and threatened the lives of a mother and child.

Nearly 200 people were arrested.

It乌鸦传媒檚 乌鸦传媒渧ery sad乌鸦传媒� said Iliott, who filed photos and video taken by daughter Emily of the aftermath.
