UPDATE: Spot fire northeast of Keremeos now held

A fire has been reported northeast of Keremeos, in the vicinity of Taylor Lake and Orofino Mountain.

UPDATE: 11 a.m.:

The spot fire near Taylor Lake and Orofino Mountain northeast of Keremeos is now considered held. 

The latest update from the BC Wildfire Service means that fire is still active but under its current conditions and fuel it is not expected to grow beyond its boundaries. 

The fire never grew beyond a spot fire size of 0.009 hectares, the smallest fire that is displayed on the BCWS wildfire dashboard. 

One initial attack crew is still assigned to the fire. 

ORIGINAL STORY

A spot fire has been reported between Keremeos and Willowbrook in the vicinity of Taylor Lake.

According to the BC Wildfire Service tracker, the fire was reported on Aug. 4 and last updated at 8:39 a.m. on Aug. 5.

The fire is currently the smallest size that BCWS tracks on its wildfire dashboard.

The fire is believed to have been human-caused.

BCWS currently has one initial attack crew on scene at the fire.
