A name change is here for Kelownaѻýs task force on crime reduction.

Itѻýs now the Mayorѻýs Task Force on Crime Reduction after several councillors noted they did not have input on the appointees.

ѻýTheyѻýve been assigned by yourself (mayor),ѻý said Coun. Loyal Wooldridge. ѻýI donѻýt really know the background of everybody. Iѻým sure youѻýve picked great people.ѻý

Coun. Mohini Singh said she expects the appointees will do an excellent job, however, agreed with Wooldridge on the name change.

ѻýJust for us to be clear, this was not a council discussion, we didnѻýt put forward the names, but as Coun. Wooldridge said this is a mayorѻýs task force.ѻý

Mayor Tom Dyas said he was fine with the name change.

ѻýThis came out of our priority setting and it was stated that it would be called the crime and community task force, so thatѻýs why I followed that outline.ѻý

The task force is currently made up of 13 members, including Dyas and Coun. Ron Cannan, from business organizations, justice and law enforcement representatives, and community outreach groups.
