A Penticton hockey alumni has lifted the Stanley Cup for the second year in a row.
Rob Tallas, longtime goaltender coach for the Florida Panthers, is a two-time NHL champion after his team vanquished the Edmonton Oilers on June 17.
Tallas played one season for the BCHL's Penticton Panthers, doing so as a goaltender in 1990-1991.
The Edmonton, Alta. product went on to suit up for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL before making his NHL debut in 1995-1996 with the Boston Bruins. He logged a total of 99 NHL games, also appearing in action with the Chicago Blackhawks.
This season marked Tallas' 16th as the Panthers' goaltender coach.
Florida also defeated Edmonton in the 2024 Stanley Cup Final.
