A Lake Country brunch spot thatѻýs been around for 34 years is shutting its doors, but members of the community are trying to save it.
Wooden Nickel Cafe announced on Facebook on Monday, Apr. 8, that it would be closing due to the continuous rising costs in the hospitality industry, as well as dealing with broken equipment.
ѻýUnfortunately we canѻýt afford to keep the lights onѻý literally,ѻý the post says. ѻýThis shutdown could be any day so please come get your breakfast one more time before it happens.ѻý
While the cafe hasnѻýt announced when the final day will be, the community immediately felt the impact and decided to try to do something about it.
On Tuesday, Apr. 9, a GoFundMe was started in an attempt to save the cafe. A goal of $30,000 has been set and within seven hours, nearly $1,000 has been raised.
