Secretary of State and Kelowna MP Stephen Fuhr is in Sweden and Finland looking to further industrial partnerships with the two countries.
Fuhr is there with Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions Mélanie Joly.
They are in Stockholm and Helsinki from Aug. 18 to 22 to discuss Canada's industrial and economic interests abroad, meeting with senior government officials and industry representatives.
The discussions will focus on sectors, including aerospace, defence, shipbuilding, biomanufacturing, automotive, mining, and telecommunications.
"As global security challenges evolve, Canada must reinforce our sovereignty and collaborate with like-minded allies,ѻý Fuhr said in a statement. ѻýBy engaging allies and strengthening industrial collaboration, we can create investment opportunities for our workers, grow the defence sector, and secure Canada's future."
Minister Joly will also highlight Canada's industries, workforce, and innovation.
"Our companies and workers are at the forefront of international excellence, attracting investment and forging strong partnerships,ѻý she said.
Canada is strengthening relationships with allies, diversifying supply chains, and delivering the advanced technologies, resources, and expertise the world needs ѻýat this pivotal moment,ѻý Joly added.
