Peachland council has opened its wallet to help the dire need at the communityѻýs food bank.
Council approved a $6,000 grant at its June 24 meetingѻýthe Peachland Food Bank had applied for $1,000.
ѻýThe number of organizations that have not come forward (for a grant) this year, this has alleviated some of the burden of excess money that we may be able to open up to very, very needed service,ѻý Coun. Alena Glasman pointed out.
Coun. Terry Condon noted that the food bank ѻýuses their money wisely.ѻý
ѻýThey do a great deal of advocacy work in terms of getting money and food from other sourcesѻýbelieve me they make every penny count.ѻý
Mayor Patrick Van Minsel said council needs to help.
ѻýItѻýs difficult times for everyone,ѻý he added.
The Peachland Watershed Protection Alliance applied for a $1,000 grant and free use of the districtѻýs banquet room for its 2025 AGM
Council voted unanimously to approve both requests.
