A precautionary water quality advisory is on tap for a number of Coldstream residents due to a water break.

The main broke along Highway 6 Tuesday, Aug. 5, and has required that operators isolate the area.

"To keep water flowing to all customers, water has been redirected through the affected area causing higher than normal water flows resulting in possible increased turbidity," the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) advises.

The area affected are properties along Selkirk Drive, Montrose Place, Elgin Drive, Kinrose Place, Inverness Drive, 209-248 Sarsons Drive., Sarsons Place, and 240-380 Sarsons Road (see map).

Once the repair is completed, the water line will be flushed, sampling will be done, and water flows will return to normal.

During the repair, properties in the area may experience discolouration of the water due to the increased water flow.

"The level of treatment provided by the RDNO has been maintained; however, some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or brushing their teeth."

Updates will be posted to www.rdno.ca/news (filter by Water Notices).

If you have any questions, contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.
