PHOTOS: Kelowna Heat battling at U13 Western Canadian Softball Championships

The tournament is taking place from Aug. 7-10 in Abbotsford

The girls of summer are swinging for the fences at the U13 Western Canadian Softball Championships.

From Aug. 7-10, the U13 Kelowna Heat softball team are playing in the nine-team tournament, which features teams from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The tournament is taking place in Abbotsford.

Through the first two days, Kelowna has a record of 1-3. On Thursday, the team lost 12-2 to the U13 Interlake Phillies and 10-0 to the Saskatoon U13A Hustlers. 

Friday morning, the team bounced back with a huge 9-8 win over Outlaws 2012. Later in the day however, the Heat fell 13-6 to the St. Albert Angels.

The championships continue on Saturday as the Heat play the Spirit U13 at 9 a.m. and the Eastman WildCats U13 AAA at 3 p.m.
